Internationaal Fotofestival Knokke-Heist 2013 - 1. PixSea Award_ Guido Guidi

From 24 March until 9 June 2013 the Photo Festival Knokke-Heist presents a selection of the shortlisted work of the first PixSea Award. Knokke-Heist created this new International Photography Prize to consolidate its position as a professional photography platform. This presentation marks the start of an ambitious two-yearly exhibition cycle of contemporary photography with historic ambitions. The PixSea Award exhibition, curated by Inge Henneman, consists of two parts. ‘A New Map of Italy’ shows a original and outstanding ensemble photoworks of the winner of the Oeuvre Award; the italian photographer Guido Guidi (1941). The secon part shows the competition of seven young photographers for the Emerging Artist Award. A excellent jury selected this shortlist: Clare Strand (UK), Andrea Geyer (USA/D), Anouk Kruithof (NL), Olivier Cornil (BE), NoĆ©mie Goudal (UK), Benjamin Girette (FR), Anette Kelm (D). Their innovative works range from framed C-prints to found footage, projection and interactive installation, and from art photography to reportage. The exhibition provides the public with a state-of-the-art of the best in the current practice of photography. The winner of the Emerging Artist Award will be announced on May 23rd, during official ceremony gathering personalities from the world of photography. Info: www.fotofestival.be
